Are You A Watchman?

EZEK 33.png

Is there something the Lord is showing to you, something that needs to be said or addressed? This is not always the easiest thing to accomplish, but with God – in the power of the Holy Spirit – all things are possible. There may be some cost, or loss. Truth is not always welcome, especially if it requires owning up to something, or repenting. Those we care about, as we speak the truth in love, may turn away from us. It is a risk that love takes.

For did not the Son of God leave all glory behind to teach, perform miracles, suffer, and die – only to be rejected by those He came to save? If we go where Jesus goes – on the Crossroad – would we expect to experience anything less than the Master we claim to follow? “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and celebrate, because great is your reward in heaven; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.” (Matthew 5:10-12)

This is a solemn matter, especially that we discern whether the word is actually from the Lord or from ourself. Many will come in the name of Christ, but shall have taken that name in vain. As the Lord states through Jeremiah, “Let the prophet who has a dream tell the dream, but let him who has my word speak my word faithfully. What has straw in common with wheat? declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 23:28)

Therefore let us live life prayerfully – not just asking God for what we want, but in quiet receptivity, listening -as His holy living tabernacle – allowing His Spirit to move and speak within and through us. May our attitude be one of complete surrender to our Lord, as that of Mary to the words of Gabriel, dispatched from our Lord, “Be it unto me according to your word.”

Something Someone Needs To Hear

Someone, whoever you are, this is for you:

Sometimes there are people in your life who are running their game, & they get very good at it. They get you to buy in – often by eliciting sympathy. “Feel sorry for me. Take up my cause. So and So is wronging me.” Duplicitous as a Clinton $3 bill. Track record of putting others on a trail of tears using this tactic. Pray for discernment and direction.

Eventually, in spite of efforts to make you believe otherwise, the ruse gets exposed. It always does. You’ve been lied to, or at best been fed half truths. It’s the set up to get your buy in.

In the end, it all boils down to knowing when it’s time to hold ’em and when it’s time to fold ’em. Your life needs to go on, and if someone’s sucking it away because they don’t actually have a life or a real identity, but have a tendency to leach on and draw from yours, with a history of the same, it’s time to draw the line, and say, “You don’t get to come across this line anymore!“

Don’t feel bad about it.

And if you’re a praying person, the confirmation of your suspicions is the answer to your prayers – the signal that you don’t need to accept this anymore. You may have been, or stand the chance to be, host to a parasite, their next stop – if they can pull it off.

Or you may have the gnawing sense (that does not go away) that you simply need to cut the ties with this person.

Very often sensitive, caring people struggle with this – their greatest strength – compassion – can also be their Achilles’ Heel because they don’t have an “off” button for shutting it down. They get conned into things, taken advantage of. They can easily become enablers to whatever the game is.

Your “messages” (to the rest of the world, the situation in question, and to yourself) need to change from, “I’ll do everything possible for you,” to “I’ll do what I can.” And let it go with that. Be in the integrity of that. You are not infinite God; you are finite you.

Trust in God. Eventually you will see things, and hear that Still Small Voice saying, “Time to fold ’em.”

Then get up and step away from the table.

And don’t look back.

Beside Still Waters

It is in the stillness that you become aware of Me and of hearing Me. Have you forgotten how to hear Me?

So often people go about muttering to themselves, either inwardly or verbally. If they’re not doing that – usually over something that annoys them – then they are surrounding themselves in fields of sound negativity, with noise that is not fit to be called music. Or else there is radio, television, or incessant chatter. Most of the devices of the electronic age are also designed to keep people in a state of constant agitation and motion. These inventions even create a need for them. And all of it keeps you from real inner peace by way of awareness of oneness with Me.

The antidote to this is to take time daily for sacred stillness, indeed to make time for it. Life ought to flow from the stillness. And as you practice it, you will realize that this is not only a possibility, but how you were created to live. This does not need to be complex, but simply the intention to enter My Presence and allow yourself the quiet for a time. Draw near to Me and I will always draw near to you. I will make make known not only that I am with you, but I will also make known to you the purposes for which you entered into Earth life, and help you with how to live it.

And when you are going about your daily matters, it is good also in the midst of that to develop the habit of inner stillness, for I am everywhere present and desirous to commune with you at all times and all places. At times you may simply intend within yourself, “Now it is time to spend such and such time in a ‘mini vow of silence’.” As you develop this habit, you will begin to be aware of Me, and that I never leave you nor forsake you. The quiet of My healing presence will be as balm to your weary soul.

Your thoughts are often like a herd of frightened deer – startling at every noise or perceived threat from the world. Bid them to lie down beside the still waters that your soul may be restored.

A higher creativity emerges from the sacred silence. Apart from that there is only reactivity to life, rather than it flowing through you from My presence.
