Who Are You, And Where Do You Live? – Celebrating Ascension

Scripture Passages for Consideration:

Mark 16:19. “So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.”

Psalm 110:1,2. “The LORD says to my Lord: ‘Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.’ The LORD will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying, ‘Rule in the midst of Your enemies.’”

Ephesians 2:4-7. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 1:22,23. “And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”

Psalm 8:4-6. “What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty! You make him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.” (Wow!)

It is not the intention of this article to weave all of these into any sort of narrative, but hopefully, by presenting them and a few provocative questions, to stimulate a hunger leading to satisfying a curiosity about our reality. They are offered for your contemplation along with the following thoughts.

What might be the full and amazing purpose for which mankind has been created, which was lost, and to which our Heavenly Father intends to restore us in Christ Jesus? How is this to come about? Is it about this vision and its beginnings in the here and now, or about going to heaven when I die, or both?

Might this be the reason why, before Jesus Ascension into heaven (which is celebrated in the Church today), He reveals something rather startling in Mark 16:17,18? “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”  And then on to verse 20. “And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.” The entire book of Acts follows up with a narrative depicting who the church is, where she lives, and what she looks like.

What we’re supposed to see are attesting signs that follow, which indicate the authority of the Gospel message and the restoration of God’s reign over mankind and the earth, as it spreads over all the world. He created it and redeemed it through His Son – from sin, death, and the power of the evil one. His Church must see itself as involved in a grand celestial search, rescue, and salvage operation that is to be taking place whereby mankind experiences restoration as sons of God! This is why Jesus commands, according to Matthew 28:20, to those who go forth to preach the Gospel and to baptize, that they are also to teach “them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

This mission impossible, made possible by the One through Whom all things are possible, begs the question 2000 years later, Where is this understanding and its relationship to the meaning of “Ascension” (in Christian terms, not Luciferian)? Where is its manifestation, as Jesus Himself reveals it, and it came about through the Church that flourished right after that 1st Pentecost?

These passages paint not only a very powerful picture of a dynamic church but also a holy church, living in and being led as sons of God by the Holy Spirit of God, as she goes forth to baptize and make disciples of all nations. Her directive is to teach all that Christ commanded us. The unfolding of this restoration includes attesting signs that the authority of God Almighty is announcing His reign through His Church.

After all, has not “… The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil”? 1 John 3:8b.

The Apostle Paul makes it clear that these are not only redeemed, but are already essentially spiritually seated with Christ in heavenly places at the right hand of God the Father – not only bought, but brought with Him in His death, resurrection, and ascension!!! One could say we are bi-locating Christians, present physically on earth and spiritually seated in Christ at the Father’s right hand, in heavenly places. Ponder that for awhile!!!

This Church is set apart from the world and other religions to be the living, breathing answer to the question posed by David in Psalm 8, “What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him?”

How is it that the vibrant truth of our reality in Christ Jesus has been supplanted by watered down theological systems of thinking, by repetitive religious practices pitched as the way that we “connect” with grace, or the “visions” of mere mortal men caught up in the pride of intellect with their own ideas? These perspectives more likely than not keep us in a very earth bound mindset, and utterly other than what is clearly and fully revealed by Holy Scripture alone – the Scripture that reveals Jesus Christ as the Way, Truth, and Life, and the At-one-ment bestowed through His work on the cross?

Who is behind making sure, with these cunning devices, that the elect never perceive who they really are and where they live, move, and have their being? Who therefore, because of the lack of divine wisdom and understanding, will be robbed of a full and powerful Gospel? Not only the Church suffers, but the whole world (into which our Lord sends us) which lies under the power of the evil one. Why? Because the knowledge of Christ is not being disseminated as He laid it down, with signs evidencing His presence and authority following!

We need to ask ourself, what – according to the Word of God which He made sure has been clearly preserved and laid out before us – is the whole vision of Jesus Christ for His people and for the world which He has ransomed with His own precious blood? Am I at one with this? Who am I and where do I live – according to His word? What am I doing on earth for heaven’s sake? Am I off in la la land somewhere ruminating on my worldly “dreams”, drinking the Kool Aid of some religion that promotes the gods of the belly and self satisfaction? Am I participating in God’s vision for His Church and the world He created, redeemed and intends to restore through His Body on Earth? Or have I been conned into a lesser vision which may actually be more aligned with the agenda of the Adversary?

Who decided that the Vision of Christ and His Apostles for His Church – His bride, His holy body – ceased with the first century Church?

Is Jesus Christ “the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8)? If so, let us review who we are and where we live, and then repent of all lesser ideas than His, as we cry out to Him for wisdom and direction! Amen.

Minding Matters

It’s time for another strategy, one that takes into consideration high truth. Clearly just rehashing and passing around the problems are not getting us anywhere. What I’m perceiving is not simply a call to awareness; it’s grown into an obsession with darkness. Maybe even bordering on addiction to “dark matters”… Even to the point of obfuscation of the narrative in the name of truth. Not a good idea, since in so being involved, you may wind up being used as an unintentional agent of propaganda.

Maybe it’s time to enter a heavenly space above the fray; put on the mind of Christ; from the darkness turn away. Turn to Him where all is day!

Solutions have to start somewhere. Baby steps. A new view. A faith view. Consider this. Caution: this is not for everybody. Because not everybody is willing to go here.

Colossians 3:1-4. “Therefore IF you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”

Wow! Ponder that awhile! Where are you? Where’s your mind – your awareness, your consciousness…? Is it on earthly matters?

For the only mind over matter that matters is the Mind of Christ over all matters!

There’s a clear directive here. One that much of Christendom seems to be ignoring these days in the grab for “guts, guns, and glory”. Let it speak to your heart and infiltrate your mind, if you dare.

Let each day be one of holy focus, not roaring conspira-seas and hocus-pocus, chicken little stinking thinking – the sky is falling, oh how appalling! Lift your gaze to Him above, into the place of supernal love. For here, not hell, is where you dwell.

It works like this:

‘Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of prophecy in this book, because the time is near. Let the unrighteous continue to be unrighteous, and the vile continue to be vile; let the righteous continue to practice righteousness, and the holy continue to be holy. Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to each person according to what he has done.…” (Revelation 22:10-12)

What is sown shall be reaped in other words. That’s not a threat; it’s a promise. And just maybe it’s harvest time.

The “conspiracy” was begun thousands of years ago. It’s been here a long time. Its end began around 2000 years ago on a hill outside Jerusalem called Golgotha… Keep that in mind. His heel was bruised; the Serpent’s head was crushed, dealt the deathblow!

I would offer that the end of the end of the Luciferian “coup” has begun to unfold. They’re scrambling like rats as the Titanic sinks. All their corruption and tactics are being revealed, even as they ramp up their strategies against His kingdom which is not of this world, against His Ekklesia – against which the gates of hell cannot prevail, and against the human race they love to hate.

“For the LORD loves justice and does not forsake His godly ones; They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.” (Psalm 37:28)

Not that it will be a cakewalk. However…

“Position” is everything. And remember: God’s promises are all yea and amen in Christ Jesus.

Hearing Him Alone

“Always measure your life solely by the standards of Jesus. Submit yourself to His yoke, and His alone; and always be careful never to place a yoke on others that is not of Jesus Christ. It takes God a long time to get us to stop thinking that unless everyone sees things exactly as we do, they must be wrong. There is only one true liberty–the liberty of Jesus at work in our conscience enabling us to do what is right. Don’t get impatient with others. Remember how God dealt with you? With patience and with gentleness.” – From Oswald Chambers, in My Utmost for His Highest.

How many of us know someone who likes to pass out free advice, you know – the type who is for example the unmarried spinster (is that word politically correct?) who likes to counsel people about their marriage when no one is asking, or the type who has ten cats and considers that as “experience” about how to raise your children?

Willie What?

These are certainly humorous anecdotal stereotypes, but c’mon – admit it, most of us actually know someone vey similar to this. Certainly this snippet from Chambers’ well known work addresses this sort of unsolicited advice.

It also speaks well to the unsolicited advice for others about what we “think” they ought do in a given situation, which often can come from a desire to control disguised as concern, or to even undermine someone toward whom one covertly feels jealousy, which is not at all helpful. It’s good to listen, and then “check in with your insides” before becoming the self appointed shrink to a friend who may only want someone to listen to them, rather than fix them or their issues.

And God help us if we have not examined ourselves thoroughly enough to realize that we ourselves may be doing this! So it can come from either direction – either you’re receiving unsolicited advice, or dishing it out.

We all have these people in our lives that provide a lot of input that we aren’t looking for, especially when we approach life from the view of Jesus as our exemplar in all matters – He says (Jn 5:19,20): “… Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.”

He encourages us to not only ask for wisdom, but see ourselves as one with the Father in Him. That, in fact was His final prayer. “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” (John 17:21)

It is through the application of Grace through the Holy Spirit that this oneness manifests, until Christ be formed in us (see Galatians 4: 19) Then we move through life as Jesus did, as one with the Father, being about the Father’s business, as ambassadors of the kingdom that is not of this world.

In this putting on of the Mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5-8), we no longer feel obligated to dispense unsolicited advice about what someone “should do” per our own agendas. In this state of mind, there are no personal agendas! Neither do we feel obligated to act upon the unsolicited advice of anyone else, but merely respond in a quiet and kindly manner – even when they are becoming adamant that they know what we must do – “I’ll pray about that and see what my Heavenly Father says.”

Am I “In” Trouble? No!

creating trouble

As I declare the truth that I already exist in Christ where there is no trouble, trouble is utterly once and for all cheated and defeated in my life. Trouble has absolutely no power over me, because it does not exist in my reality – for Jesus Christ declared, “It is finished!”

Through Christ my reality is that I already dwell in the almighty Presence of my Heavenly Father, high above all principalities and powers and every name that is named. He – my Elder Brother, the Son Who is Truth – has set me free, and whom the Son sets free is free indeed!

Therefore I am free from trouble or the need to react to it. Here in Christ where I live, move, and have my being, I am free to create what is good, beautiful, and life enhancing, to love unconditionally, and to live fully and abundantly. Here I am free to “grow in Grace” – experiencing as ever present reality more and more of the Divine Love for which I was created. Since this is so, I am always in a safe space of infinite Good!

As I realize and ponder my reality in Christ, ever increasingly the Good that God has for me manifests in me and in my life, and I am free to share fearlessly this Good with others. The more I share of this Good, the more it unfolds in my life, which is characterized by the absence of trouble and the presence of Infinite Love and celestial harmony!

For this understanding I give thanks and rejoice with joyful praise and glory, for the ever present experience of Divine Grace, and I let it be so now and forever, for so it is. Amen.

Scriptures for contemplation:

“…that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:3)

“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:6,7)

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:1-3)

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
