Proverbially Speaking / Chapter 22 (What’s Your “Viewpoint”?)

“He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.” (Proverbs 22:9)

A “bountiful eye”: A magnanimous, gracious outlook is about as close to the meaning as this comes. It is the consciousness of generosity and grace that perhaps shows through the eyes and on the face of such a person. The eyes tell it all! They speak of your viewpoint! Do you see bounty everywhere, or lack?

Relates to Luke 6:38, where Jesus instructs concerning the attitude of giving forth. A cross reference is given to, what is to me, one of the most “mysterious” verses in scripture, Mark 4:24, 25 – “And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.” I take this as referring to “abundance consciousness”. Seems to be the opposite of the socialist doctrine: to he that hath not, we shall take from he who hath and give to he who hath not, so that they shall be equal.

There is no getting around that the truth is related to the Law of Sowing and Reaping. Someone with a “bountiful eye” will be a giver. S/he knows it costs nothing to give, because this is a universal principle given by God that to sow generously means to reap generously.

There is nothing quite like it that will reveal this to us except when we have the revelation of Jesus Christ and ourself in Him and He in us. Then we know we are one with the Father. When that happens, one becomes aware that he no longer striving toward having (substance, money, spiritual understanding, generosity…), in a worldly way, but that he is already there and comes from that place in the LORD! He or she comes from a place of abundance and confidence. They know how things work! Then your look will be that of the bountiful eye, and the confidant countenance. You will know that you have; you will not be coming from a place of want and lack all the time.

This is why the want and lack people are always wanting and lacking, and often in physical pain, and asking for prayers from others to alleviate their dilemmas. Often their condition worsens, until they learn Whose and Where they are in God, and that to give is to receive, that they can give and it won’t hurt, for it has been said that the pain you carry is the love you withhold! Which brings up the next point:

It’s not always about just giving money or worldly goods, but also to impart knowledge, healing, truth, love and so forth. When we give in these areas, what we have only increases. We don’t give to aggrandize ourselves, or for some phony philanthropic tax advantage, but to reveal how things work.

There was a big crowd. Five thousand by some accounts. It was lunch time. The disciples said that the crowd needed to be fed. Jesus said, “Show Me what you have.” They said, “There’s someone here with five loaves of bread and two fishes, but what is that among so many?” The Master said, “YOU feed them!”… “What did He say? Me?” So they brought Him the small meal, He blessed it, and gave it to them. As they began to distribute it, low and behold, it grew and grew in amount – until everyone had more than enough to eat! And there were several baskets left over! The miracle comes when we surrender to Jesus what we have, and He multiplies it as we give it forth.

Now that’s what it means to come from abundance rather than strive toward abundance. The first is the Jesus mindset. The second is the worldly mindset. And it is that latter mindset, based the ignorance of the Universal Law of Reaping and Sowing, that has this planet in a real jam these days, as we face global financial collapse. It is separated from the consciousness of the Gospel!

We don’t have any idea who we are or Whose we are, and therefore where we dwell – having been bought by the Blood of Jesus and brought to the Father’s right hand in Him, in His ascension! That is where we already are?

Where’s the scarcity and limitation there, Mr. Socialist, so that you think you must take it upon yourself to demand wealth redistribution? That is the subtle essence of anti Christ and it is based upon ignorance of the truth of God’s endless unlimited abundance! Plain and simple. There is no lack. There is no scarcity. All are in God through Christ! God – the omnipotent, the omniscient, the omnipresent. Everywhere God is there is abundance! And there is nowhere that God is not.

The Good News of divine abundance must be proclaimed with understanding. It is for this that Jesus came into this world – to restore us to the knowledge of the Truth!

It is in giving we receive. It is in sowing that we reap, whether the goods of the physical life, or the giving of prayer and praise and unseen glories of wisdom and understanding.

Oh, that we may know Whose we are, and who we are in Him. We’re not that nowhere man in nowhere land making nowhere plans, but rather we are now here, in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, in the ever present Presence of our Heavenly Father’s love.
