It would appear that we all like to sing “How Great Thou Art” to ourselves, to “strut the stuff” of our good deeds, our good positions on just about everything, our self righteousness… to be seen before others as “good” people.
However, the truth of the matter is –
“We are only what we are in the dark; all the rest is reputation. What God looks at is what we are in the dark—the imaginations of our minds; the thoughts of our heart; the habits of our bodies; these are the things that mark us in God’s sight.” (Oswald Chambers, The Love of God—The Ministry of the Unnoticed, 669 L)
Maybe 2016 means more work to do outside the public image. Or does it mean more of our own “goodness” – of which we’re so proud – to be surrendered? …
Silently. In secret. In His Presence. If it doesn’t happen, “opportunities” may be divinely provided so that it can.
Welcome to the Edge Of Forever as it unfolds in 2016.
