Pharaoh, Herod, and Hitler Revisited

Lately I’ve been connecting with some very “loud hints” that much of what’s going on in the realm of “pop spirituality” has more to do with the agendas, politics, and paradigms of the New World Order than it does with truth. This is largely because these “liberal” agendas have everything to do with promoting and even “legalizing” an anything goes mentality on a global scale, and nothing to do with basic understandings of right and wrong, good and evil, or any sort of decency or morality – matters of basic conscience, when and if you are listening to your conscience.

What is sought after as “Self-realization” is in many instances “self-realization”, or the subtle substitution of will worship and ego pursuits in place of higher truth and values, or the realization of why you are really on this planet here now.

Many supportive of deceptive organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), or the current administration, promote the belief that “you can’t legislate morality”, but by their silence, when it comes to the abortion issue in particular, stand behind agendas that fully have already legalized obvious immorality in the form of Roe versus Wade forty years ago. This is the outright and wholesale slaughter of millions of unborn children, the most innocent and voiceless among us, which by any sensible person – churched or unchurched, who stands for decency and conscience, ought to regard as a holocaust surpassing that of Pharaoh, Herod, and Hitler and the Nazis’ fairly short lived reign in Europe in the mid 20th century. A holocaust America will be taken to task for, and indeed already is, along with other nations which have bought into this agenda.

No threat in that remark, just a simple universal principle – what goes around comes around. You reap what you sow. And it goes on – unchecked, unchallenged, and fully legal. So far.

There is a convenient, pervasive New Age belief that “everything is illusion” or that “we’re making it all up anyway”, so none of it really matters. We can do what we want, without questioning. It’s up to us. It’s all about choice. We have “free” will. So don’t bother us about matters of conscience. That is for the “unenlightened”. We are into consciousness, not conscience.

Well, so be it. You still reap what you sow. Eventually.

Personally I’ve come to regard 10 or so years spent in those New Age circles as a “descent into the Underworld”, and that having passed through the “test” I am now “ascending” up out of that spiritual abyss. And while I have come to regard it as a place of “trial” (a learning process where I was to learn carefully to discern between truth and error, among other matters), it certainly was admittedly one of the more pleasantly deceptive domains of darkness, but certainly not a reality I any longer call home!

And that deceptive pleasantness was what made it so often so difficult to discern or even detect. It is an addictive paradigm. Upon departure from New Age circles, I have found it impossible to forge any lasting bonds with those who call this place of pseudo-spiritual parlor games home. As far as they’re concerned, I’ve lost my mind. Yes, that is true – it was time for me to stop being worldly minded and to put on the Mind of Christ!

Certainly, after much sorting through the beliefs and practices embraced there, I cannot identify with the “self first” values (or shall we say lack of lasting values?) or the “anything goes” mentality found in those camps. What amazes me is that, based upon the social observations I’ve made regarding who posts what or responds to posts in social media, when anything is shared about the abortion holocaust, few take a stand against this tragedy and the support of the Pro Life movement. There are plenty of posts on the tragedy of abused or homeless dogs, stray cats, saving the whales, the rain forests, the environment, or even ending war, that are “liked”, agreed upon, and “shared”. (Certainly these are worthwhile causes. I’m not saying they’re not.)

But what about the cause of the murder of millions of unborn Human children? How can anyone sit by in silence and not address this most obvious moral and ethical tragedy, and still regard himself “enlightened” or “spiritual”? Are not these issues deeply metaphysical matters? Because what we have going on in the world today, to a Christian metaphysician with open eyes, is a clear case of cause and effect, and it needs to be presented in that voice also, as a call to awakening among people who regard themselves as “awakened” – New Ager and “liberal” Christian alike!

People are asking, “Why are so many ‘innocent’ suffering?” I’m going to be very bold in saying that, within the collective of Humankind, there are no innocent – metaphysically speaking. If you believe, as so many do, that “we are all one”, then we have all partaken of this atrocity – by our very failure in addressing it, and by the refusal to be our brother’s keeper, or a purpose greater than ourself and our personal whims and desires.

In not speaking out we have refused to take responsibility for our collective creations. And we have allowed it to go on unchecked, even electing as a President of the United States someone who by his own admission regards the matter of mass murder of unborn children as “beyond his pay grade”! Oh really? Does he then admit that he does not know the basic difference between right and wrong, and so washed his hands of the entire matter of shedding innocent blood?

Having come through the New Age wasteland, I find myself “returning from hell” “resurrected” (spiritually) to my Christian roots, yet in a much more deeply interior way (independent of a Church which is also now cloaked in the darkness of great spiritual eclipse). Of late I have had to re-pose the question to myself, “Why am I really here? What am I supposed to be doing that has meaning not just for me, but for the greatest possible Good that I can call forth through the power of the Holy Spirit?

While in the comfortable abyss, I allowed myself to believe it was about a self-serving grab for all the gusto, “following your heart”, following your dreams and pursuits. But any thinking person will eventually come to the conclusion that we all have to eventually take responsibility for our creations and for one another, and that Jack the Ripper was just doing what came naturally and following his “heart”. And what a dark heart it must have been!

If King David cried out, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me,” who are we to think we know better? This is echoed in the teaching of Jesus when he says, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.” I notice that whenever some quote this, they leave out the part about “and his righteousness”.

Somehow there is such an aversion to the idea of “righteousness”! What they don’t say says a lot about where they’re at spiritually, morally, and ethically. Or else they are fearful and don’t want to rock the boat. Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.

What is allowed to remain law – the unrighteous, deeply immoral and unethical practice of legal abortion, often on the taxpayer’s dime – in a population that declares its disdain for “legislating morality” will determine, based on the universal law of cause and effect – how well that group will do. And one must conclude, in light of what the New Agers call “Karma”, or the law of cause and effect, is that the pigeons are coming home to roost, based upon all the no win scenarios which are now besetting society. We lose our rights, because in our selfish, callous disregard for the rights of the most innocent, we are reaping what we have sown!

All these philosophies centered in self and ego are handy dandy side trip distractions, traps that keep us going in circles. Has the world therefore, while we are busy fulfilling our personal ego dreams, been taken over by a cabal of Humanity haters because they wish to possess a world and its Souls which are not that cabal’s rightful domain?

There is a cosmology here which is largely being ignored and not seen for what it is, and it IS, like it or not, ignore it or not, affecting the very fabric of our being and way of life. The reason? It’s quite clearly stated in the Scriptures, in the book of Romans, that the entire Cosmos, as if it is in childbirth, groans – as it awaits the revealing or the coming forth of the “sons” of God. And the cabal doesn’t want that to happen, because it will be “the end of the world” for them!

Now, if you were that cabal which is trying to stop the arrival of these Suns / Sons of God, and you wanted to set in motion every conceivable means, plan, plot, and paradigm, to see to it that those Suns never arose, would you not 1) make it a priority to see to it that you are believed to not exist AND that God is also nonexistent or “dead”, and that the lower ego self is “sovereign”?  2) Would you go about promoting the view that the right way to do things is to separate the “obsolete” church and its values from the state, or declare yourself separate from the Church – which embodies the Suns bearing universal salvation and deliverance in its understanding and mission, because it is clearly counterproductive to your mission of universal conquest? 3) Would you begin to make it a legal “choice” to slaughter millions of innocent unborn children – among whom the Suns would be found, so that they would never enter into the world alive, let alone carry out and fulfill their Earthly and Cosmic purpose and mission?

This last move is clearly King Herod, Pharaoh, and Hitler revisited all at once –  and then some!

Wake up, world! We cannot remain in the stuporous space of denial about this cosmology and its ramifications, while pretending to go on to “higher vibrations” and at the same time embracing the debased and debauched non-values of anything goes rampant on the planet today. These are the “vibrations” that attract and vector in these bizarre no-win situations and entities who have no business being here.

We wonder about all the weird paranormal manifestations that make no sense openly showing themselves on our Earth. Where did they come from? Who are they? What do they want? I don’t know the specific answers to those questions, but I do know this much: they have been “vectored” here because the Law of Attraction, via various rituals and metaphysical activities, attitudes, modes of living and thinking without exception. Like attracts like! It’s a “vibrational” matter.

Many rejoice because the “veil is thin” and so forth, when in truth, it might be a very, very good idea to expel these entities and close the “veil” back up and protect yourself spiritually, energetically, psychically, and in some cases physically (a subject for another day).

Not to mention taking back our world… through repentance for starters! But we go on in metaphysical and spiritual “ignore-ance”, that these things that go bump in the night are not here because they are friendly or enlightened, but rather are manifestations of various levels of the dark unseen that would overtake our world and destroy us along with it. They are insanely jealous of us, and they do not want to see the Suns of God manifesting to fulfill their mission. So they are here to stop our emergence! It has been so from the beginning.

They are not just “symbolic” or “archetypes” running loose in our heads. Certainly there are the “good guys” (guardian angels, archangels, and the like), but they wait to be asked to be invited into the house, or even the planet itself. (There are laws “out there”, and the righteous respect them!) They don’t show up in your bedroom in the wee hours of the night and implant alien seed into your womb and then extract the fetus 3 months later, or run experiments against your will, or tweak your brain waves until you suffer a stroke! No, that is the work of a manipulator, of someone who works for the cabal, whether human or “alien”. It is a basic universal truth that like attracts like.

A simple back-engineering of the Law of Attraction reveals that events now unfolding on the planet are the “effect” from the “cause” of ignoring the wisdom of the directives about good old fashioned godly behaviors and morality. Let’s call a spade a spade here! It is what we have attracted here, not just in the form of unpleasant paranormal experiences, but also what the elite powers (humans in conjunction with the cosmic cabal) are dishing out politically as they infiltrate every organization and system on the planet. It’s not pretty, and it’s not going to get any better – unless there is not only some good old fashioned repentance, but also the repeal of ungodly laws and practices that “everyone” takes for granted or lives with without batting an eyelash.

It is also a matter of re-ordering our priorities. An old phrase I recall, an acronym actually, in the “language” of Christianity is “JOY” – Jesus first, others second, yourself last. I know that when I live that order of priorities, seeking first the kingdom of God AND His righteousness, that indeed my life is a far more powerful magnet attracting whatever I need to fulfill God’s purpose for my life not just the fulfilling of my pretty personal daydreams.

But that got lost for awhile with the New Age emphasis of self first, and I am thankful to have emerged from that twisted land which seemed like a trip down the rabbit hole.

Paradoxically the “darker aspects” of the Law of Attraction are good news also, for any philosophy that emphasizes using this as a self-centered way of approaching life has a built in self destruct mechanism. Eventually everything around it attracts the matching vibration of self seeking, and continually attracts other people and situations who are also self seekers.

And what do you have when no one is looking out for anybody but Number One? You have a society where few want to be their brother’s keeper, let alone speak up on behalf of the millions of unborn being slaughtered in unspeakable numbers, those who cannot speak for themselves, and like the blacks in the time of slavery are not regarded as “persons”. (But it’s interesting that corporations have status as “persons”!)

When that manifestation begins it is only a matter of time before the whole thing goes up in smoke, because it ignores the Way of Godly Wisdom. This, I think, is what is sadly happening to the United States of America and to the world in general. When you buy into a pack of lies, liars take over. It’s a simple matter of supply and demand, you might say.

Have we really been that easy to fool?

Time to wake up and smell the coffee.

Proverbially Speaking / Chapter 10

“Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.” Proverbs 10:12.

For whatever reasons I have not been able to get past Proverbs 10 for a number of days lately. Life can become rather turbulent at times, yet in the midst of the tempest once more I have been directed to learn the lessons and skills to sail through them successfully. What comes about in very practical ways is the focus the Holy Spirit directs me to in these chapters. I call it “SOJT” – spiritual on the job training.

To offer love – the kind God gives so freely to us – is to be a true channel of His Grace in meaningful ways. We are the flute. He is the melodious, sweet harmony. That means to love in deed and not just word alone (See 1 John 3:18). Love conquers all through us! This is what it means to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are not our own!

It is one thing to have a “contemplative” lifestyle wherein inner worlds of understanding are received and perceived by the mind. This is the space of God Mind contact and the imparting of His revealings as we are ready for and in need of them.

However, it is quite another matter to discern at some point the radical importance of being a conduit of the Holy Spirit’s loving peace that passes all understanding. That inner Life of experiencing Divine Light must exteriorize in the outer world. Indeed that is its real purpose! It is no a place to hide from realities – ours or those around us!

I have been thrust into a situation wherein, at least for an indefinite time, my contemplative comfort zone has had to be relinquished to a degree. This is a point where an ever deepening spiritual knowledge is being imparted through the empathetic experience of feeling with (compassion) what others are not only going through, but actually sharing in practical ways in their burdens.

Sometimes we like to do armchair religion where we philosophize and analyze everyone’s problems and programs. Then we offer advice (often unsolicited). If this is where our religion ends, it is not God Love pouring through us. It is ego based.

Others’ “sins” and shortcomings are not, after all, cosmic and celestial level war crimes, but rather the status of prisoners of war! Instead we discover that it is at times a simple inability to do what is right for whatever the reason – lack of practical help from others, lack of knowledge, or simply belief that something is lacking. When Souls are in this space the least needed thing is to be held up to scrutiny, analysis, and criticism – without the “advisor” being willing to lift a finger toward easing burdens and cares by practical means… Eventually what one discovers is that we are indeed our brother’s keeper!

In the case of administering more “heat” (advice) than Divine Light and Love in practical helpful terms, Souls will not have even the necessary relief to even begin to learn how to better relate to life and their world and be open to the Christ Way of the redeemed life. We cannot simply turn away and say “I’ll pray for you” or “Here’s what you should do” when the Holy Spirit prompts us to get our hands dirty and be directly involved (1 John 3:17) in some way.

Jesus did not only preach and teach, he miraculously gave what was necessary on a physical basis to the point of exhaustion on many occasions. Where do we see that happening today, consistently, especially in a “liberal” politically correct American Christian “spirituality” infiltrated and infested with the new age cults of self serving? That is little more than a deceptive trap. It’s time for the “Church” to awaken and get back to the business of being the Bride and Body of Christ, not the propaganda tool of Satan.

The powerful Love of God must be seen in action. Jesus said that if you have seen Me you have seen the Father. If we are indeed “one with Him and the Father” John 17:21-23) when others experience us, they are experiencing the Holy Trinity through our demeanor, our language, and our caring. So – where is Jesus visible today in churches whose modus operandi is more like a worldly corporation than the very living Essence of our LORD Jesus Christ?

The word “covereth” in the above text is an interesting one. It means to “fill up the hollows”, or a deep empty space, a place where there is not something, an emptiness. To me this resounds loudly and clearly of a serious lack. Could we say that when someone lacks something which makes it impossible to hear the living Word of Christ, that this lack is keeping them from God, experientially outside the very Presence which we would like to encourage them to seek and to worship? We overlook and cover the emptiness, the inability, and provide what is necessary on a tangible, physical level without judgment or condemnation. The Soul in need must see and experience something very different and whole in us. God is up to the task. Are we willing to be His Body in this life?

The NASB uses the word “transgressions” in place of sin. Love must be very practical in many ways in times like these, so that lives are assisted in order to see and experience the Love of Christ – the Kingdom of Heaven as a viable reality.

What the world needs now is not more blissed out “meditators” looking to be at peace “within” themselves, escaping from being their brother’s keeper, but “en-Christed” Souls filled with the Holy Spirit’s own zeal for getting their hands dirty by lifting another out of the mud. The only way we can do that is to offer our hands and hearts when and where we are directed, without judgement. The world needs to see sons and bondservants of the living God, reclaimed by the Blood of the holy precious Lamb of God in action! It’s not enough to give advice without giving everything that God wishes to provide through us in practical terms.

The “Secret” isn’t about how to get more for your ego self. It’s about understanding how your brother is yourself in Jesus, and the realization that there are no limits to our strength and abundance in our Father’s universe, as we are prompted by the Holy Spirit. There really is no fear in Christ love!

Shine On!

This week has been particularly challenging as far as the difference between generating light and heat in various situations. In some respects more challenging than I ever thought. Things have come around in ways I won’t bother to describe here. Just when you think…

It’s well worth thinking about it that sometimes when “Divine heat” is applied to us, that’s the time when it can best shine through us! Malachi 3:2 describes the Lord as appearing like a refiner’s fire. Then there’s the part from 1 Peter 3:10, concerning the “elements” melting with a fervent heat.

To approach these challenges successfully, It’s become evident to me that I have to look at them as God’s Grace “getting the lead out” so that everything remaining is pure gold. It’s not over yet… This is what Divine Alchemy looks like from here.

Even more is being asked in a put on your boots and march kind of way, so I may or may not be at my desk making entries here over the next several weeks.

The only thing I know for sure is that opportunity is going to abound for generating more light than heat. Let it be so.

May fair winds accompany you on your voyage until we meet again, dear reader. I’m hoping it will not be long.

Until then, farewell and Godspeed!

As always,

Cross Purposes 24 / Let The Son Shine – In Me!

Maybe instead of calling it “Bible Study”, we might consider it to be a “S.T.E.P.” in the right direction. That could be an acronym for a coupleof things: the Sonship Transformation Exploration Project, or even the Satanic Termination and Eviction Process. A couple of things must go on – one of them very empowering, the other very freeing! Both absolutely necessary.

John 1:12 somehow always surprises and calls to me whenever I read it. “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name.” It’s an amazing thought. Not one of those things you can take lightly once it impacts your awareness.

It also makes me think that too many of us only see ourselves as “believers”, but not much more than that when it comes right down to it. We “receive” Jesus. We “believe” on His name. But what does that mean? And where does it go from there?

There’s so much more! We may feel a sentimental rush when we sing that little chorus, “To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus, all I ask, to be like Him…” Yet do we consider that this is not only within the realm of possibility, but actually one of the big reasons for being a Christian? To actually become a son of God!

And didn’t Jesus promise, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12)

The first time I encountered these verses (or maybe they were encountering me) I had to wonder, Am I missing something here? There seems to be so much more in the way of powerful, transformative experience that goes with being a “believer”! I think I need to check this out!

The Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, it turns out, took on some really dynamic implications in light of becoming a son of God… or maybe being restored to sonship through His redemptive work, His teaching, and the Holy Spirit’s input in the process of salvation – being made into sons.

Romans 8:19 reveals that “the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.” (NASB) It appears that the creation itself is anxiously awaiting the revelation of not only the Firstborn Son Jesus, but the rest of the sons of God – His “younger siblings” we might say – to whom He gives the power to become as He was in this world. This is in order for all of creation to be set free from slavery to corruption “into the freedom of the glory of the children of God”! Kind of a bigger picture than we’re used to considering.

Jesus is always about the Father’s business – ransoming, freeing, and restoring God’s children in order for us to participate likewise in the same thing for the entire creation. That’s a tall order!

This is a spectacular bit of news! In fact much of the entire chapter of Romans 8 has to do with our becoming “heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ”! It is also pointed out that this process does not come about through being some sort of spiritual couch potato, but through mortification of the deeds of the body, and through suffering. This may be where darkness experiences its eviction!

This isn’t a real popular idea these days, but it’s one of many of the big “if” in this chapter. Mortification has to do with the mind set on the spirit, not on the “flesh” nature or finite self and its agendas for “happiness”. To “mortify” means to subdue – to put to death – the desires rooted in the sin nature not only through self-denial and discipline, but by realizing that the sufferings of this time are not worthy to be compared to the glory that is to be revealed in us. God is doing a work in us through suffering!

It’s an attitude that begins in the mind “set on” and motivated by the Holy Spirit, who testifies with our spirit that we are children of God – as we see God at work transforming us into sons through the darker aspects of our lives. Nothing separates us from our Father’s Love! Even the sufferings of our times, 2000 years after the Bible events of Jesus’ life and the early church and the Apostles’ writings, take on a sacred meaning in light of all this!

Somehow I think this is an understanding that’s gotten lost in a worldly-minded Christianity focused on what feels good as being exclusively “God’s will” for us…

Strange. If Jesus had embraced that idea, there would have been no Cross and no redemption. Have we considered that in this light before? “For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.” (Hebrews 2:10)

Could we dare to go as far as to look upon the “negative” events in our life as a kind of experiential co-crucifixion, cleansing us and preparing for an infilling of the Holy Spirit, the likes of which we have never seen, in preparation for becoming sons of God?

Something to consider, especially during Lent, as we focus upon our Lord’s Passion!

(PS: (Sonship is the theme of an upcoming Bible Study we’ll be hosting soon. Details and dates forthcoming!)

Bad News. Good News. Neither? Both?

I write this in the evening at the end of a challenging week. As the night approaches, the darkening, ominous sky reminds me of how things are appearing in our world – turbulent, cloudy, indefinable, prohibitive of celestial light penetrating it, and maybe a little mysterious and scary. Many of us sense a greater weariness than we may have ever known before, as we behold the world coming apart at the seams… Or so it seems!

When I share the “bad news”, it’s not my intention to be an alarmist to cause anyone to worry, to be afraid, or to create conflict. Maybe this really isn’t entirely about Obama, the Russians, war, God, guns, guts, or glory. What if it goes deeper than that, and these things are only surface  reflections of something far more extensive? What if this is a phase Hu-mans must go through to prove to themselves, and maybe the rest of the Cosmos, what they’re made of? (Explore Ephesians 3:10 in particular.)

Instead my hope is that we ponder longer, harder, and far deeper about things than we ever have before, asking ourselves – what’s the significance of this? On the chance that what we’re seeing may not be the bigger picture, then what does the bigger picture look like? Where do I fit into it? What might I do to turn things around? What are the root causes here? How can I access and apply the answers?

One things is clear – current events are asking us to come up with some new answers, not stay fixated on the cycles of perpetuated problems with new disguises that have beset mankind for aeons. It’s time to break away!

Personal lives, marriages, families, friendships are under fire and on the line, as are the social, political, and global scenes – every stratum of life we can think of is being put to the test! We ask, where is my story going in all of this? History unfolds in mystery, and the perception of it is that it’s doing so at such an accelerating rate that our minds are reeling and our anxiety ridden hearts pound. It’s as if the event horizon of a black hole opens up before us. How do we avoid it? Can we avoid it? Who created this ruckus anyway?

No, it’s not time for another beer, another latte, or another party. Maybe it’s time to stop sticking our heads in the sand, face reality, and grow up. Maybe it’s time to start thinking and asking questions and participating in the real reasons why we’re here now, along with the relationship between what’s happening now and our purpose for signing up for the Earth mission.

Shift. Transitional phase. Ascension. Apocalypse. Karma comes calling. End of the world. Whatever you’d like to call it. Maybe this is a point where certain energy sent out may be coming back to bite us or to bless us.

I was just reading in one of my favorite old books, Ye Are Gods, by Annalee Skarin.

I’ll loosely paraphrase her comments from page 157. She maintains that “vibration” is causal to every situation. Thought generates vibration whether from individual, communities, countries, or even globally. The negative thoughts of mankind create all calamities, disasters, war, sickness, poverty, etc. God does not do this, but rather man who is created in the image and likeness of God, having thought and creative intention. Thus it is also up to man to generate the necessary frequencies of “light and glory” to turn around his direction and his disasters, by understanding his powers and taking responsibility for them and his creations. (This is metaphysical language for how repentance works!)

The “likeness and image of God” is first and foremost that we are sentient creative spirit. We create whether we like it or not, for good or for ill, and must therefore take responsibility for our creations, in some cases learning to uncreate things that do not support life and godliness. Repentance is always the bottom line!

Certainly we can fuss and fume about the “bad news”. But we also must acknowledge sooner or later that the wrath of man does not accomplish the righteousness of God (per James 1:20) Corrupt current events only evidence that there is negative and corrupt energy being transmitted by Hu-mans. Boatloads of it. The cumulative effect is upon us. But let’s not keep the focus there, since where the focus goes the energy flows.

Where are the answers as to how to turn it around?

We certainly need Wisdom! James directs us, If anyone needs Wisdom, let him ask it of God, without doubting. Why that condition? Because the path of learning Wisdom may not be the easiest. It requires dogged, single-minded pursuit, in all sincerity and commitment (See James 1). You probably won’t get it on a luxury cruise rubbing elbows with your favorite “spiritual teacher” and massaging your ego.

In a sense it’s a no brainer. Repentance is the answer. This sometimes requires silence, reflexion, and possibly significant introspection and honesty to acknowledge where the changes need to be made, and then surrendering to where the Holy Spirit is taking you…

Proverbially Speaking / Chapter 9

How personally the Proverbs speak to our hearts! Chapter 9:2 is especially compelling. A spectacle is presented to us of a spiritual Feast in the making by Lady Wisdom. Who’s invited? Whoever sincerely desires understanding!  “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6) The question is, who is hungry and thirsty for Divine Wisdom’s offerings, and who is not? Who would rather be filled with the spiritual junk food of the Black Magic Woman?

A spectacular house has been prepared where this banquet is to be held! Could this be the “house of prayer”, or temple wherein the Holy Spirit dwells?

Seven pillars secure this house in its place. We’re reminded of James 3:17: The central column is first of all purity or holiness, then peaceableness, gentleness, reasonableness, helpfulness, humility, and sincerity. (see http://www.icr.org/article/seven-pillars-wisdom).  These pillars are “hewn out”. (This may not be the only view of the seven pillars, but it’s one that makes a lot of sense.) I’d like to think of these pillars as “hewn” from the complete righteousness of Christ Himself, the Foundation Stone and testimony upon which Christ’s Church is founded – against which the gates of hell cannot prevail.

The first order of business in the Wisdom Feast is to slay the beast! Why? They never can be kept alive under the same roof with the seven pillars! That beast nature would demolish everything! It would be like trying to serve an elegant dinner in a pig pen.

Again we refer to James 3:15 (Amplified Version), where he defines superficial wisdom as “not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual (animal), even devilish (demoniacal).” Consequently the beast, the animal nature – flesh, old adam, carnality – must be put to death. We reckon that part of self crucified, slain, in Christ, living according to that fact! One does not live within the house of Wisdom or partake of her feast without first dealing with the beast through surrender to the Holy Spirit and repentance.

Mixed wine could refer to the ancient perennial Wisdom blended with that of the “Jesus Wisdom”, the Wisdom greater than Solomon’s. Or the old Wisdom mixed with the new wine of the Holy Spirit. We need to imbibe both!

She is ready to celebrate. But what is a feast without those who are hungry?

Her invitation goes out to the simple, and the one who wants understanding.

However, reappears the “BMW” (Black Magic Woman of previous chapters) in verses 13 through 18. She also makes her appeal, but by way of temptation, to the “simple” and to “him that wanteth understanding”. Her appeal in verse 16 KJV is identical to Wisdom’s appeal in verse 4! She allures with the idea of the stolen and the secret – something to be done hidden away and out of sight, so that it perhaps appears to be on the up and up, but really isn’t. In fact, it’s the place of spiritual death, the very depths of hell.

Curious. When Wisdom sends out Her maidens to invite guests to Her feast, they are found (verse 3) “upon the highest places of the city”, whereas the BMW is seated “in the high places of the city” – but not the highest.

The BMW, foolish and clamorous, calls out to “passengers” (KJV verse 15). The first thing that comes to mind is somebody who’s just going along for a ride, being carried or driven somewhere. The NASB translation hints that they’re “making their paths straight”, or per KJV – “who go right on their way”. She too makes her appeal to the seeker, but with selfish, cunning, and destructive motives.

Verses 7 through 12 are sandwiched between Lady Wisdom’s invitation and that of the appeal of the BMW. They attend to the matter of who is open to Wisdom, who is not, and what the result is to anyone who wishes to share it with those who either scorn Wisdom or treasure Her.

This seemed to bring up Matthew 7:6  – “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”

There is no point in trying to reprove a scorner, in other words (Proverbs 9:7) or to rebuke a wicked man. It does not go well for the messenger! “Beasts” on the loose will only trample him and his message.

So then we may wonder, what is the point in addressing the corruption of our secular society and government? Is this mindset so far gone that this is a worthless pursuit, in light of the directive of both Jesus and this Proverb? Food for thought…

In conclusion, we can lead a horse to water, but we can’t make him drink. Likewise we can lead a man to Wisdom, but we cannot make him think!

Thus the best course after all may be to first be the change we’d like to see in the world, embracing Wisdom ourselves, so much so that maybe someone sometime somewhere will ask the question, What makes this person different – wise, knowledgeable, content, and loving, not to mention manifesting the fruit of the Spirit listed previously in James 3?

As Jesus also taught, “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.” (Luke 6:41, 42)

Might the best recourse then be to begin with this personal prayer: So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”? (Psalm 90:12) Or, we could get even more up close and personal: teach me to number my days, that I may apply my heart unto wisdom.

And as the old song from The Sound Of Music tells us it’s a good idea to “start at the very beginning, a very good place to start, when you read you begin with A-B-C, when you sing you begin with do-re-ME”!

Spiritual Balance And Discernment

The thought in the foregoing photo was spoken to me in a dream. As I awakened, it would not let go of me, but became a point of contemplation during the following day, and even until now – several days later as I post this.

Many trends in Christian spirituality today seem disturbing, especially the tendency to sweep under the rug so much scandal and corruption, to treat sin with a slap on the wrist, or to even notice it or address it at all.

Do we not understand that Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil? (1 John 3:8). Then what is the “Church” except His body (Ephesians 1:23), Hisfulness”? If that is so, then ought we not to be one with Him in this work? Ought there to be this permissive defilement of something so holy and supposedly set apart and consecrated to the Lord Jesus Christ?

In case anyone thinks I’m picking on the Catholics in this regard, that’s not entirely the case. Someone forwarded me some You Tube videos yesterday which were frankly shocking. What was being touted in a supposedly Christian Pentecostal setting as “worshipin the HOLY Spirit instead resembled Satanic possession crossing the line into vulgarity. I could not even finish watching this display of ungodliness, resembling Voodoo practices. It went beyond irreverent. It’s as carnal and banal as it gets!

Might we need to come into a deeper understanding and discernment about this anything goes mentality in Christian circles and worship? Frankly, what fellowship does the Light of God have with the darkness of evil? (2 Corinthians 6:14) In some cases it’s necessary once more to review and to acknowledge that this thing called evil actually exists, and that Jesus Christ calls forth His people throughout all ages to combat it and ultimately banish it from our lives and all that is, not play around or “experiment” with it.

We need to recognize and reconnect with the spiritual reality that there are unseen forces waiting for any and every opportunity to manifest themselves through, infiltrate, and take over lives through corrupt practices – especially those who have been called to the mission of Jesus Christ. They have not forgotten their ancient mission! That story has not changed! (1Peter 5:8) But the question remains how “sober” and “vigilant” are we? Where is the admonishment concerning these displays?

Frankly the point is, the denomination we may (or may not) belong to is perhaps of little consequence. The mission of the Church of Jesus Christ is of consequence. It needs to be understood, and we need to resume living within its parameters. Indications are that a refresher course is necessary. That’s the truth referred to here in the attached photo.

Do we really understand the mission, why we are called out of the world, out of the religions of the world, and out of the practices and doctrines of devils? (1 Timothy 4:1) Are we loving God’s Truth along these lines as much as we love to hear about His unconditional Love?

Are we taking His name in vain like a faithless bride by failing to discern these things? Are we making the cross of Christ “of none effect” with behaviors that deny we even know Him? (1 Corinthians 1:17) Are we taking His remarkable, astonishing love for granted, rendering it ineffectual because we do not get it that His Love delivers us from evil, and it transforms us as it restores us to His image and likeness?

The Gospel, after all, is not a free for all. It is the call to the mission and marching orders of the Son of God. If we don’t understand that, we ought to go back to boot camp and discern (Ephesians 5:17) what the will of the Lord is!

And may we, each and every one, vigilantly and ceaselessly pray – may the love of God’s truth be as equally welcome in my heart as the truth of God’s love!
